The situation
Cansu Uçar has sixteen years of experience as a specialist translator in psychology, healthcare and editorial work, for clients like Doctors Without Borders, Tumblr and publishers across Europe. Translators usually sit in generic directories or template portfolios. She needed a home that showed expert credibility and still felt personal.
The decision: build it around her illustrations
Cansu draws in ink. Instead of stock imagery, the site is built around her own illustrations, from the bird on the homepage to the details throughout. The identity comes from the simple fact that the drawings are hers.
Paper as the starting point
Translation lives on the page, so paper became the central inspiration. Containers and boxes use brush shapes instead of clean geometry, which gives the site a textured, hand-made quality. Cormorant Garamond brings a literary tone to the headings, and Jost keeps the body text easy to read.
Sixteen years, easy to browse
Each portfolio case study is colour-coded with one of Cansu’s illustrated swatches. Mental health, clinical research, NGO and editorial work each get their own colour, so visitors find the relevant experience quickly.
Outcome
A professional home for her work that stands apart from generic directories and looks like no other translator site. Live at inktree.nl.
What Cansu said
I had been putting off rebuilding my website for a long time. My previous one was a template adaptation that felt generic andsaid very little about my work or process. I knew I needed something better.
Working with Jordi changed that completely. From the very first conversation, he listened carefully, asked the right questionsand guided me through every decision in a way that felt effortless. The communication throughout was easy and natural. Ialways felt heard.
The result is a website I am genuinely proud of. Jordi built the entire design around my own illustrations, creating a warm, papery aesthetic with layered elements that feel deliberate and considered. It looks like a work of art. More importantly, it feelslike me.
The portfolio section was something I had always wanted but never known how to approach. He organised everythingclearly and intuitively, so potential clients can explore my work without feeling overwhelmed. He also built a CMS so I can update content and add new portfolio items myself as my work grows.
If you are looking for a designer who combines real creative talent with thoughtful communication and delivers somethingtruly unique, Jordi is the person to work with.
