Ethereum.org, an open-source platform, has launched a project to translate its website into different languages, making it more accessible to billions of non-English speakers worldwide.

I participated in this project as a translator for the English to Arabic language pair. In this work overview and plan, I will describe my experience and share my strategies for tackling the challenges that arose during this project.

My Role in the Ethereum.org Translation Project:

I volunteered as a English to Arabic translator, this project is held on the Crowdin platform. My primary goal is to ensure that the translated content is accurate, clear, and culturally appropriate, to make it easily understandable and relatable for Arabic-speaking readers. I work on translating a vast amount of content, including technical terms and new concepts, which required me to conduct extensive research to deliver the most accurate and appropriate translations. I also have to stay up-to-date with the latest developments and trends in the cryptocurrency world to ensure that my translations are current and relevant.

One of the significant challenges I encounter while translating Ethereum.org's content is dealing with new and unestablished terms in the Arabic language. It requires me to research the terms, consult with experts, and create Arabic equivalents that are accurate and understandable. It is a challenging task that required a lot of patience and attention to detail. Moreover, cryptocurrencies are a complex topic, and translating them requires a deep understanding of the structures, specific terms, and daily trends.

My work plan is structured around ensuring that I deliver high-quality translations. Here's how I approach the work:

Familiarize myself with the project guidelines, requirements, and timelines, to set clear expectations for myself.

Use specialized dictionaries and tools to ensure that my translations is accurate, clear, and concise. I also consulted with experts in the field to verify the accuracy of my translations.

Maintain constant communication with the project team to get feedback on my translations, address any issues, and make necessary revisions.

Stay up-to-date with the latest developments and trends in the cryptocurrency world, which helped me deliver translations that were current and relevant.

Regularly track my progress on the Crowdin platform, which motivates me to volunteer and help even more.
