Envision is an amazing company providing glasses that empower people who are blind or have low vision by adding functions tot the glasses using a combination of AI technologies all running on the Google Glass operating system. So when my last assignment ended I got in contact with the Co-Founder and asked if I could create a redesign of the website because I saw some nice chances to improve the user experience.
Besides the possibility of improving the experience I saw it as an amazing chance to deep dive into the world of accessibility from a visually impaired standpoint. This way I really learnt some great stuff about how a user with bad vision navigates the web and how my design can improve the experience for this type of users.
The UI
The UI is massively improved with this redesign. The concept of (low) vision has been really incorporated into every fibre of the page. You can see this in the lines in the opening screen which visualize this concept, in the way you scroll through features and benefits playing with blurring and the concept of an eye entailing all these features. There also is a 3D version of the glasses visible which animate as you scroll through a 3D landscape. All conveying the concept of the world and the visualization of it through tech.
The UX
The UX of this page is designed with UX laws and accessibility rules in mind. For example Aesthetic-Usability Effect, Cognitive Load, Flow, Hick’s Law, Law of Proximity, and Miller’s Law. The design consistent of the following landingpage formula I (roughly) like to use:
1. The user is guided through the page by custom Envision audio instead of screenreader
2. Who are we and what do we do - Present yourself as a company
3. Social proof - We are mentioned by these companies/media in articles
4. What can Envision do? - What are the benefits for you when using our product/service
5. Call to Action - Which features would serve you best? Select a plan
6. How is it build? - Extensive breakdown of the features of Envision glasses
7. Call to Action - Which frames do you like? Start shopping here
8. Social proof - A selection of the best articles and testimonials
9. Footer - In case you may have not found what you are looking for. Here are the site links
10. Call to Action - At all time a sticky shop now button is present at the top of the screen
