Pixlee | Building a Gifting tool for Influencers

My Role

As the Design Lead for Creators at Pixlee, I led this project working with Product Management, and Technical leads including engineering and QA. I designed the interface and prototypes and worked on the end-to-end product design strategy. This was one of 25+ projects I spearheaded during my time at Pixlee.

Problem

Pixlee, a UGC & influencer marketing platform, needed to differentiate its offering for influencers—one of its key markets. We identified an opportunity to increase engagement by enabling brands to send free gifts to influencers in exchange for content.

Solution

We designed a seamless gifting tool that allowed brands to send products to influencers. The solution was broken down into key user flows:

Brands Sending Gifts via Control Panel
Brands can integrate their Shopify store with Pixlee and add free products to their campaigns.
To simplify fulfillment, brands can only select parent SKUs, avoiding complexities in SKU variations—an issue we scoped out for this MVP.
Creators Selecting Products via Pixlee.me
Influencers must have an authorized Pixlee.me account and accept the campaign before choosing their gift.
This ensures only engaged creators receive products, improving campaign quality.
Submitting & Tracking Orders
Brands can review and finalize orders in the control panel before submitting them to Shopify.
A tracking system allows both brands and influencers to monitor gift fulfillment seamlessly.

Impact
Increased user adoption – The percentage of Pixlee customers using creators grew from 10% to 35% after the introduction of gifting, significantly improving influencer participation in campaigns.
Streamlined gifting process – Automated fulfillment and tracking made it easier for brands to send gifts and monitor engagement.
Seamless e-commerce integration – Fully integrated with Shopify, with planned expansion to Magento for broader adoption.
Strategic business value – The gifting feature became a key differentiator for Pixlee, contributing to its acquisition by Emplifi.
