Horse in Art — 2026 Wall Calendar

& Landing Page

A 12-month wall calendar built from AI-generated artwork reimagining the Year of the Horse through 12 iconic art movements — plus the product landing page built to sell it

Overview

Horse in Art is a self-initiated AI art direction and product design project built around the Year of the Horse, 2026 in the Chinese zodiac. It started as an experiment: what happens when you mix modern AI-driven image generation with classical art history? The core idea: take one recognizable subject — a horse — and reinterpret it through the defining visual traits of 12 famous art movements (brushwork, color logic, composition, key artists' signatures), then generate each version with AI while keeping every style clearly recognizable at a glance. The result was packaged as a physical wall calendar with a proper sales landing page online.

The brief (self-directed)

Design a calendar that people would want to hang up and look at all year, not just use to check the date. That meant every month needed to feel like a standalone piece of art, while the set as a whole needed to hold together as one coherent product.

Concept & approach

The horse became the recurring subject, and each month became an exercise in extracting the defining traits of a specific art movement — brushwork, palette, composition logic, the visual language of its best-known artists — and translating those traits into an AI prompt precise enough that the style stays instantly recognizable, even applied to the same subject 12 times. That meant building detailed, style-specific prompts, iterating on outputs, and curating results so each month reads unmistakably as "that" movement while the set still holds together as one coherent product:
January — Mosaic, inspired by Gaudí and Byzantine mosaic art
February — Abstraction, in the spirit of Kandinsky
March — Op Art, channeling Vasarely's optical stripes
April — Cubism, blending Picasso and Dalí
May — Impressionism, after Monet and Renoir
June — Decorative modernism, after Matisse
July — Pop Art, after Warhol and Lichtenstein
August — Fauvism, after Matisse and Derain
September — Analytical Cubism, after Picasso and Braque
October — Street art collage, after Basquiat
November — Painterly realism, after Degas
December — Surrealism, after Chagall and Dalí

"12 months. 12 styles. One symbol of 2026, reinterpreted through art history."

From AI artwork to product

Once the 12 pieces were generated and curated, the project became a print production job: choosing paper stock, binding, and format that would hold up as a piece people actually keep on their wall for a year.
Format: 30×30 cm — large enough to read as wall art, compact enough for any room
Pages: 250 gsm matte paper
Cover: 350 gsm board with matte lamination
Binding: metal spiral, for durability and easy flipping
Print: digital print
Extra: a sliding date-window cursor for daily use

The calendar as an interior art object

Beyond its function as a calendar, each spread was designed to work as a standalone piece of wall art — something that holds its own visually in a real room, not just on a product photo. Displayed open, it reads less like a printed calendar and more like a rotating art print you happen to also use to track the month.

Even after the year is over, the pages don't have to be thrown away: each one can be torn off and framed on its own, so the calendar quietly turns into a set of 12 individual art prints for the wall.

And if a particular month becomes a favorite, that same artwork can be ordered as a large-format print — extending the piece from a page in a calendar to a standalone art object in its own right.

Landing page & sales design

To sell the calendar, I designed and built a one-page product site: concept intro, the "why this calendar" value props, room-context mockups (living room, studio, office), the full 12-month gallery, materials spec, a short video walkthrough, customer reviews, and an order form with delivery options.
The goal was to let the illustration work sell itself: minimal copy, large imagery, and a clear path from "this looks beautiful" to "add to cart."

Results

12 AI-generated artworks spanning 12 distinct art styles, art-directed and curated to a consistent subject and color logic
A production-ready print product with finished specs and packaging decisions
A complete landing page live at redhorseart.figma.site handling storytelling, product education, and order capture in one flow
