There are millions upon millions of applications available for mobile devices. The user experience varies a lot, but usually - the ones that have audio connected to their touchpoints score better on UX.

Taking the principles of audio engineering and synthesis, I created some touchpoints for a very standard mobile device application dealing with text.

Many applications have the option of adding a subtle sound and some vibration as feedback when you are typing. For this application the client wanted to have 2 different options, one slightly thicker than the other.

These are quite subtle, but when combined with the sharpness of a mobile device speaker, and the vibration feedback - this felt like a good fit for the client!

We had the same approach to deleting items. The client wanted 2 different options, one sounding slightly more like paper than the other.

The sounds are again quite subtle, but are meant to give a slight feedback to the user that something has been trashed.

The most used touchpoint of this application was the scrolling. It took some time to find the right feeling to combine with the feedback from the mobile device, but we landed on a slight click. This sound might be up for review in the next application version, due to perhaps being slightly too harsh on the ears.
