I absolutely love working with fantasy and game music compositions. It is one of those things that just well out of my creative side, and keeps me occupied for hours on end! This project was for a specific portfolio request in regards to a dark fantasy video game. The first thing that came to mind was the Witcher 3 soundtrack, and I ended up creating some basic battle tension.

While working on the sounds I had more ideas coming up throughout the day, and felt like I needed some kind of eery setting where I could incorporate some Mongolian throat singing! This is a vocal effect I find absolutely perfect for any kind of dark fantasy landscape.

Building up the dark background, and adding whispers, made it incredibly creepy - and exactly what I was looking for! Playing with the dynamics, and reversing some of the sounds made it even creepier. This is the kind of stuff I live for, when I play RPGs and other immersive games that are heavy on the nerdy music compositions!

When it comes to dark settings, there is no better instrument than my favorite orchestral string instrument - The Cello! No instrument, in my opinion, fits better with the dark, gloomy, and broody mood of dark fantasy, than the Cello.

While knowing that, I did of course have to create a little track based on this as well. A dark drone, a solo Cello, and a picture of a dark forest - This is what came out!
