In reaction to the rise of Asian hate, I created a three part book exploring the relationship of food and identity as it pertains to Asian Americans. “(Blank) American” is a collection of stories, interviews, and recipes that show there is no one way to be Asian American. As a third generation Chinese American, I can’t speak any Chinese. The only way I feel connected to my heritage is through the language of food. With this book I hope to highlight different Asian American voices who are sharing their experiences with food.
