Media Escapism

One may argue that movies, television, shows, or games are the best forms of media; however, I believe that books are the best forms of media. Books make the surrounding world disappear. They can take one on a timeless adventure to a fantasy world, open doors to any subject in the real world, and capture the mind of any age.
As a child, it is typical that books are the first form of creativity your mind is truly introduced to. Experiencing your parents reading a book that paints a story of a faraway land that is fun while also allowing your brain to begin shaping the creativity that one will have the rest of their life is not something that can be gained from another media form. Fiction books allow young readers to explore their own emotions through comprehension of characters' emotions. It helps one feel not so alone in their journey of life and their experiences when there is a book about a character going through the same thing, and one can read the characters' inner thoughts and feelings.
While one may argue that other media may have the same effect, I would say that they truly cannot because watching a character deal with a situation does not have the same impact as being able to read the thoughts and feelings of a character. In other forms of media, you can see the expressions a character is making, but it is up to the viewer to decide what that expression is conveying. Whereas in a book, the narrator can just state what the character is feeling. I feel that with the way technology is growing and changing, books are far less appreciated in their depth and beauty and are far overshadowed by other types of media.
