Viamo Design System: From Buy-in to Launch

Designed and shipped Viamo's first design system end-to-end as an embedded contractor, partnered closely with engineering throughout.

The need had been recognised internally since 2018, but every new feature still meant rebuilding components from scratch — slowing teams down, creating UI inconsistencies, and adding friction between design and engineering.

I led the work end-to-end: a product-wide audit, the proposal that secured stakeholder buy-in, the foundations and core components, a contribution process so the team could maintain and extend it, and the launch. Partnered closely with the lead front-end engineer so designers and engineers could both rely on and contribute to the system.
