American Expres Dataprep

Cornerstone is American Express' centralized big data ecosystem. It enables democratic access to data for all users, making it easier to work with data and drive innovation and growth across all of American Express' products.

During my time at Cornerstone UX, I focused on creating a more human experience for our analysts, scientists, and business stakeholders to help them better understand the data and make better decisions for the business.

Traditionally, Cornerstone Dataprep was fragmented across multiple third-party software and terminals. To uncover insights from the noise, users had to be experts in using terminals, sorting, filtering, and slicing data in the right ways.

This approach required too much expertise from most employees who wanted to work with data. As a result, many of them struggled to access the data they needed to make informed business decisions in a timely manner.

Cornerstone Dataprep aimed to solve this problem by simplifying the process and making it more accessible to everyone. I was asked to lead the UX for this project. I was asked to lead the UX for it.

The final result of the platform was a system that addressed the pain points of my users. I designed a usable and scalable interface, meeting technical limitations while prioritizing the user experience. The redesigned platform received positive feedback from both internal stakeholders and our returning customers.

My biggest learning was how to utilize qualitative and quantitative research methods to validate a product idea. As the sole designer on this project, I was able to wear many hats, juggling user research, stakeholder interviews, and prototyping to create a product strategy that met the needs of our users.
