Filoli Wedding Designs

As a graphic designer and artist, I had the incredible opportunity to assist the Kathleen Deery Design team with bringing the “Brigerton aesthetic” to a wedding at the Filoli Gardens in Woodside, California. My role was to both create and illustrate exquisite floral motifs and then weave them into captivating patterns and designs that perfectly captured the overall aesthetic of the wedding. By utilizing creative tools throughout the design process, I was able to bring the vision the clients had to life. From creating stunning illustrations on Procreate, using my trusty iPad, to refining designs on Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, I was committed to making these designs as memorable and appealing as possible. Through consistent communication and collaboration with the KDD team, I was able to create these designs remotely. Once on-site in California, I worked closely with the design team both in the studio and on-site before and during production days. This hands-on approach ensured that every detail was executed to perfection — and provided opportunities for my growth in understanding the event production process.

First, I created the atrium fabric design that would be used throughout the venue. After illustrating various florals and composing them into a seamless pattern, the design was printed on fabric and upholstered onto the atrium tent frame. The fine details are appreciated up close, and when viewed from a distance, they create a beautiful blend of color with a surrounding aesthetic.

Another highlight was the creation of the atrium door design. I created an intricate, symmetrical, floral design, which was used as the stencil template for the painted doors. This custom, hand-painted doorway design added a touch of elegance and charm to the venue, making the main entrance a work of art. 

Finally, I had the honor of designing the dance floor. With the whimsical aesthetic in mind, I integrated the same floral motifs into a unique and vibrant design for the vinyl-stretched dance floor. With such beautiful motifs, the dance floor was not only a focal point at the reception but was an inviting space for guests to dance the night away in style.

The end result was a visual masterpiece, in which every detail was thoughtfully crafted to enhance the beauty of the occasion. The combination of nature's beauty, artistic expression, and thoughtful details truly made this space magical. The artistry and dedication of the whole team merged seamlessly, resulting in an unforgettable wedding experience and a visual representation of my hard work as an artist. It was an honor to contribute my skills and passion to such a remarkable event, and I look forward to continuing to create captivating designs that leave a lasting impression.
