ℹ️ About the Project

I've been an avid gamer since the 386 CPU era, and I am lucky enough to have grown up during the golden age of PC gaming. I turned my childhood obsession with videogames into a thriving career as a Game Designer and Product Manager. During my free time, I revisit the 'oldies' that shaped my approach to my profession and convert the learnings into write-ups and informative diagrams.
These two articles take the reader on a journey through the halls of Theme Hospital, a quirky hospital management game developed by the infamous Bullfrog Productions, the UK studio headed by famed Peter Molyneux.

✍️ Written Content

The write-ups explore how the game's complex simulation, innovative gameplay mechanics, and quirky humor hook the player effortlessly. I've written the articles in a tone reflecting the quirkiness of the game.
The articles were shrunk in content and posted on LinkedIn, adhering to the platform's limitations. The full form articles are much longer and filled to the brim with nuggets of epiphanies on how the developers managed to make the game enjoyable by tackling a rather depressing topic.

🖼️ Diagrams

I put a lot of effort into diagramming the patient flow and room connections to give readers a visual reference of what the player sees and the underlying simulation parameters. I used images from the game and software like Draw.io and Adobe Illustrator to bring my vision to life.
