Giacomo needed a portfolio site that reflected his work in AI strategy and transformation. Something clean, professional, and engaging. The design was provided, and my job was to bring it to life in Webflow with smooth interactions and a flexible content management system.
The Challenge
The site required more than standard Webflow interactions. The homepage needed the image in the hero section to have an animation that felt dynamic without being distracting. The sliders for the recommendation section needed a custom functionality that Webflow's native tools couldn't handle. And everything had to load quickly, which is critical for making a good first impression on executive-level visitors.
My Approach
Custom Hero Animation
I built the homepage hero using GSAP to create a smooth, controlled navigation for the image. The animation needed to work across devices without impacting load time.
CMS Architecture
I set up a flexible CMS structure for projects and case studies, making it easy for Giacomo to add new case studies and recommendation info. Each case study includes fields for images/videos, descriptions, external links, and categories.
Custom Sliders
Webflow's native slider had limitations for what the design required, so I wrote custom JavaScript to handle recommendation carousels with specific behaviours: smooth transitions, proper touch controls on mobile, and dynamic content loading.
Performance Optimization
I compressed and lazy-loaded images, minimised custom code, and optimised animations to keep the site fast. The result was strong Google PageSpeed scores across mobile and desktop.
The Result
The site performs well technically and does what it's supposed to do: showcase Giacomo's expertise without getting in the way. Giacomo's feedback was positive, particularly around how easy the CMS is to manage and how smooth the interactions feel.
