Dakima Sushi Restaurant

Collaboration with: Monada Studio

The Story

Our client was looking for a project that adapted itself to the local market and allowed for the flow of the ins and outs of food delivery platforms. The brief stated that they needed a very small bar area (given people in the area didn't like sitting at the bar), a sober and restrained look and mostly... an easy and fast installation that respected the initial budget.

The Main Goal

We wanted to create a simple environment that avoided being "thematic". The main aesthetic is based on the interiors of the traditional tea houses and vintage Japanese trains.

The Solution

Our concept for this japanese food restaurant wanted to connect with traditional Japanese design elements without seeming thematic. Using clear cherry colored wood and a bi-chromatic color palette connects us with traditional tatami interiors and rice paper sliding doors. The mirrors evoke antique trains from the past and create visual amplitude with the customers.
