VibeFlow is a conceptual end-to-end UX/UI case study for a modern music streaming app. The goal: create a seamless, personalized, and immersive listening experience that puts the music first and gets out of the user's way.
This is a spec project exploring the complete product design process, from user research through high-fidelity prototyping.
The Problem
Most music streaming apps pack in features at the expense of simplicity. Cluttered interfaces, buried discovery tools, and generic recommendations leave users toggling between frustration and habit. VibeFlow asks: what would a music app feel like if it were designed around how people actually listen?
Process
Research and Discovery — Started with competitive analysis of major streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal) and informal user interviews to identify friction points: poor playlist management, overwhelming home screens, and weak contextual recommendations.
User Personas and Flows — Built personas representing casual listeners, playlist curators, and genre explorers. Mapped core user flows in FigJam, focusing on onboarding, music discovery, and the now-playing experience.
Wireframing and Iteration — Low-fidelity wireframes tested navigation patterns and information hierarchy. Prioritized reducing tap depth for the most common actions: play, discover, and save.
Visual Design — Developed a bold, immersive visual language in Figma with dynamic color theming that adapts to album artwork. Typography and spacing were tuned for scannability during one-handed mobile use.
Prototyping — Built interactive prototypes in Figma to validate transitions, gesture-based interactions, and the overall feel of the listening experience.
Key Design Decisions
Contextual home screen that adapts based on time of day and listening history, surfacing relevant content without overwhelming the user.
Simplified navigation with a bottom tab bar limited to 4 core sections, reducing cognitive load.
Immersive now-playing screen with fluid transitions and gesture controls for skipping, saving, and sharing.
Dynamic color theming pulled from album art to create a visually cohesive, mood-driven experience.
Tools
Figma (UI design and prototyping) and FigJam (user flows and brainstorming).
