Campeche 150 seeks the connection and integration of the proposed architecture with nature, the environment, and the user, using sustainability as a fundamental pillar throughout the design process. This presented a challenge, as no information about the site or orientation was provided—only one condition: that it measures 150 m². We propose a modular design, which facilitates the creation of a sustainable construction adaptable to any type of terrain, connecting all spaces, generating diverse experiences for the user, and creating areas that we collectively refer to as a “Typology”—an established formula that can be replicated at the desired scale.

The design is part of a large-scale development located in Campeche, Mexico. The region is characterized by a warm and humid tropical climate, with a distinct rainy season from June to October and a dry season from November to May. Its vegetation is diverse, dominated by tropical forests, mangroves, and coastal plants, which support a rich fauna, including species such as jaguars, deer, crocodiles, and a wide variety of birds and reptiles. The soils in Campeche are predominantly calcareous and karstic, with permeable rocks and features that promote water infiltration, contributing to the formation of cenotes and underground systems, which are common throughout the Yucatán Peninsula.

The residence represents a model of architecture that respects its surroundings, enabling a living experience in close contact with nature. The arrangement of spaces, the use of local materials, and the integration of natural elements such as water and vegetation create a welcoming and relaxing environment. This proposal achieves a balance between comfort and sustainability, responding to the needs of the climate and the surrounding landscape, making it ideal for those seeking a deep connection with their natural environment.
