Migration of a custom-built documentation platform to Webflow, including advanced CMS architecture, nested article structures, dynamic navigation, light/dark mode support, and migration of ~100 educational articles.
Intro / Context
Flux Charts needed to migrate their existing custom-built website and documentation portal to Webflow while preserving the existing user experience and content structure.
Rather than redesigning the platform, the goal was to recreate the website as closely as possible inside Webflow so the team could benefit from a more manageable CMS and a significantly easier publishing workflow.
The project involved rebuilding:
The homepage
A documentation portal with categories, subcategories, and articles
Dynamic navigation systems
Light/dark mode functionality
CMS-driven educational content structure
In total, the migration included approximately 100 articles and educational resources.
Challenge
The main challenge was recreating a complex documentation and learning platform inside Webflow while maintaining scalability, usability, and performance.
The documentation structure required:
Multi-level content hierarchy
Nested CMS relationships
Dynamic sidebar navigation
Category and subcategory organization
Featured article logic
Advanced filtering behavior
Search integration
Responsive layouts
Light/dark theme support
Because Webflow’s native CMS functionality has limitations around nested collections and dynamic sorting, many parts of the portal required custom solutions and advanced CMS architecture planning.
Another challenge was migrating and restructuring a large amount of educational content while keeping the system manageable for non-technical editors.
Approach
The project was rebuilt from the ground up in Webflow using a scalable CMS-driven architecture focused on long-term maintainability.
CMS Architecture
A custom documentation structure was created using:
Categories
Subcategories
Dynamic article relationships
Reusable CMS templates
Nested collection logic
To overcome Webflow CMS limitations, custom development solutions were implemented for:
Nested CMS rendering
Dynamic sorting
Conditional article logic
Sidebar generation
Advanced filtering behavior
This allowed the documentation portal to behave much closer to a dedicated documentation platform while still remaining fully editable inside Webflow.
Documentation Experience
The educational portal was designed to make large volumes of trading and indicator-related content easier to navigate and consume.
Key improvements included:
Structured sidebar navigation
Dynamic category organization
Responsive article layouts
Featured and latest content sections
Improved readability for long-form educational content
A light/dark mode toggle was also implemented across the platform to improve the reading experience for users spending extended periods inside charts, tutorials, and documentation.
Content Migration
Around 100 articles were migrated into the new CMS structure.
This included:
Reorganizing content hierarchy
Structuring educational resources
Preserving scalable URL architecture
Preparing the system for future content expansion
The end result provided the Flux Charts team with a significantly easier publishing workflow compared to the previous custom-built setup.
Result
The migration transformed Flux Charts into a scalable, CMS-driven educational platform fully manageable inside Webflow.
The new system delivered:
A modern documentation experience
Easier internal content management
Faster publishing workflows
Scalable CMS architecture
Improved navigation across large content libraries
Better readability and UX
Fully responsive layouts
Light/dark theme support
Most importantly, the team gained the ability to continue expanding their educational content and documentation without relying on custom development for everyday updates.
