Minimal Planning. High Production Value.

When I was contacted about cutting this project together I was told there was a lot of footage, without a ton of planning, scripting, or organization. That's okay. Group-A Engineering is not a production house, they focus on engineering bad-ass third party performance parts in the automotive world. They move quick.

After we worked out an equitable agreement, I took a massive cache of projects to my editing machine and started chewing through it. This was the first project of about a dozen.

Like any company, they want to create value for their customers. If a notable name like "Jeremy McGrath" is interested in having his Kawasaki KRX modded, that substantiates the brand and piques the interest of potential buyers.

These people at Group-A Engineering have a great time doing what they do. I wanted to make sure to convey that in the project. While I had plenty of coverage from Jason Luklum - our talent for this video, Using some in-the-moment a-roll from Charles Madrid (their resident wrenching expert) helped reinforce the idea. These guys don't just sit in cubicles all day, they wrench!

While there certainly are some gains from planning and executing on a project, it doesn't always make sense. Scripted or Unscripted, I've got you covered.

The Process

Acclimate with the footage.

Build the story - in this case:

Orienting the viewer (setting the scene)

Calling out and installing the products we want to feature

Testing and tuning the vehicle

Celebrity picks-up the finished product.

Sequence in all the required B-Roll to highlight to the parts that are being called-out

Ensure there is a variety of timed edits, contrast and movement in the shot selects to keep the viewer engaged.

Color & Audio Pass

Export a polished version 1

Send to the client for revisions.

Why a Polished V1?

You're paying me to handle, color, story, mood, pacing, etc... Sending over an unpolished edit just draws attention to those things rather than the overall objective of the final product.

Often times I will send a "Radio Edit" to my clients as way of ensuring the pacing, messaging, and mood is aligned with the desired audience. A radio edit is an audio file that includes the music, voice over, a-roll, and any other sound elements. This allows us to iterate quickly and cheaply to find the right tone and delivery.

My aim is to keep the revisions as low as possible to keep expenses down and you happy.
