Market research, startup screening and dealflow via tools (Crunchbase, Pitchbook, CB Insights), attending events and conferences, and personal network.
2. Startup Assessment and Commercial Due Diligence
Meeting with startup founders and assessing the investment opportunity among several assessment criteria (team, market, business opportunity, traction, etc.)
Furthermore, modeling alternative business case scenarios for commercial DD.
3. Term Sheet and Valuation
Conducted negotiations with founders around term sheet terms. Established startup valuations with various methods (comparables, multiples..).
4. Organizing and managing full Due Diligence
Organized and managed full Due Diligence project involving several stakeholders and parties. The DD projects include experts from Marketing, Product, Tech, Tech Security, Legal, Finance, and HR.
5. Representing investment case in Investment Committee
Synthesize assessment and DD insights into a presentation for the investment committee. Presenting the investment case to the committe for approval.
6. Negoting legal agreements - Investment Agreement, Shareholder Agreement, etc.
In collaboration with legal counsel, set up and negotiated all documents required to close the investment.
7. Providing strategic inputs to portfolio companies
As board observer or by briefing board member I provided inputs to product and business strategy of our portfolio companies.
