Movix

Movix is an app designed to make movie-going effortless by bringing showtimes, theaters, and ticket booking together in one place. With an intuitive interface and smart features, it helps users discover films they love, book tickets in seconds, and enjoy a seamless cinema experience from start to finish.

🎬 Introduction
Movix is a mobile-first app built to make movie ticket booking smarter, faster, and more enjoyable. Designed for film lovers who are tired of clunky, outdated ticketing platforms, Movix simplifies the process of discovering movies, choosing seats, and booking tickets — all through a clean and personalised experience.

🎭 The Problem

Even in 2025, booking a movie ticket online can feel like a relic of the past — cluttered UIs, laggy seat maps, and a complete lack of personalisation. Users often jump between apps just to watch a trailer, check reviews, or pick the right showtime with friends. There’s no delight, no curation, and no reason to stay loyal to one platform.
Movix aims to change that by placing experience and context at the heart of movie discovery and booking.

🎯 Target Audience

Casual Moviegoers
Users who occasionally watch movies and want a simple way to discover what’s playing nearby without going through cluttered apps.
Young Professionals & Students
People who want fast, last-minute ticket booking, personalised suggestions, and quick payment flows — often while commuting or multitasking.
Groups & Couples

🧠 User Research

To understand the modern movie-watching journey, I conducted surveys and short interviews with 15 participants between the ages of 18 and 35. Most users had tried multiple ticketing apps but were dissatisfied with the user experience. Key insights included:
Users want to watch trailers, check seat availability, and book tickets without switching between YouTube, maps, and third-party review sites.
Most group bookings require coordination hassles, like syncing seat rows or picking a time everyone agrees on.
People often abandon bookings due to slow UI, payment failures, or limited filtering (e.g., genre, ratings).
Users want smart reminders for upcoming releases or when a film is close to being sold out.

🔥 User Pain Points — Movix

Scattered Experience
Users have to jump between trailers, booking apps, and group chats to coordinate a movie plan.
Slow Seat Selection
Current apps lag or make it hard to select seats quickly, especially on mobile.
No Smart Recommendations
Users aren’t shown personalised suggestions based on mood, genre, or watch history.
Poor Group Booking Flow
Booking tickets with friends is clunky, with no real-time syncing or hold options.
Hidden Charges at Checkout
Final prices often surprise users with extra fees during payment.
Outdated UI
Some platforms feel cluttered or unintuitive, especially for casual users or older audiences.
Notifications Overload or Silence
Users either get spammed with promos or miss important ticket or refund alerts.
Inaccessible UX for Differently-Abled Users
No voice search, poor contrast, or missing screen reader support.
