Inspired by the rising issue of intimate content leaks amongst teenagers, Ultra is a story of heartbreak and courage set against the pressures of adolescence and social media. Selected as a finalist for the FEST Pitching Forum, the project received a production grant from Fundação GDA and was made for under 5000€.

What I brought to it: The subject matter demanded a specific kind of honesty. A story about teenagers navigating shame, exposure, and the permanence of digital mistakes could easily tip into sensationalism or sentimentality. The writing had to find the human truth inside a very contemporary crisis, and the direction had to earn the trust of young performers handling difficult material. Shooting on a minimal budget meant every creative decision carried extra weight, with no room for excess and no safety net. The edit held the emotional register together, keeping the film close to its characters without letting the subject matter overwhelm them. The result was a film grounded enough in real experience to resonate, and precise enough in its craft to be selected for Portugal's biggest international film festival.
