Emotional data

acream

A concept motion piece exploring how abstract emotional data can be visualized through tactile, physical interaction.

Approach

The core idea was to simulate the sensation of pressing into a screen, turning a flat digital surface into something that feels responsive and dimensional.
Parallax via synchronized scaling: Elements scale at different rates from a unified anchor point, creating a layered depth illusion. By keeping the zoom anchor consistent across all layers, the parallax feels grounded rather than disjointed.
Global element displacement: As the "press" occurs, the entire composition shifts subtly, reinforcing the sense of physical force being applied to the interface.
Edge blur color shift: Blurred color fields along the screen edges shift in position and hue during the interaction, mimicking the optical distortion you'd see when pressure is applied to a real display panel.
Together, these three techniques create a convincing press effect without any 3D rendering, built entirely in 2D compositing through careful choreography of scale, position, and blur.
