GearShare Background

This is GearShare, a personal project/idea that my friend Geoff and I started working on a few years ago. In the past 5 years or so Geoff and I have become avid rock climbers. We do both outdoor climbing in places such as Mount Nemo, Canada and we also climb indoors at the local climbing gym in Toronto. We have found that over the years climbing has become an expensive hobby. As we push our limits of climbing we also push the limits of our bank accounts. This is where the idea of GearShare came about. We wanted to see if there was a way to connect enthusiast to one another and share expensive equipment.

Above is the landing page - we chose a minimalist design that focuses more heavily on the value proposition of GearShare. We wanted to illustrate the ability to share and rent equipment.



What Next?

GearShare is still in our head and we want to continue pursuing the project. At this point GearShare is just a project that we are working on. We continue to feel that there is an opportunity in this market as the prices of equipment for unique sports such as climbing, Kitesurfing, etc., continue to rise. We are passionate about the idea that everyone should have the opportunity to try any sport they like. For us, climbing has been a way to release stress and become stronger as people both mentally and physically.
