My journey to finding Contra 🚀

I found out about Contra through a close connection who had been involved in the Contra community and was super passionate about what Contra is doing. About 2 years ago, I visited my sister in New York where she was working for SoRipe, a young and vibrant startup. During this time, I sparked interest in everything they were doing; and more specifically graphic design. I was introduced to Sketch where I began to play around with graphic design and develop my skills until I felt confident to pursue a freelance career.

Fast forward a few years, I heard about this new platform called Contra that helps independents showcase their work, find jobs, and make genuine connections. Being in the beginning stages of my independent journey, the potential to form connections with people from all over the world and the ability to showcase my work sounded like an open door to an abundance of opportunity. I immediately began to formulate my Contra profile. Fast forward a couple of months, I was presented the opportunity to become an ambassador. This happened out of the blue and I was so excited to get started and contribute to the development of Contra's platform. I am so thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this amazing community.



Why I believe in what they are doing 🤩

As a young professional, I have had experience trying to find jobs on other platforms. Most, if not all, rely on more traditional and impersonal methods of showcasing talent; in other words, you are just a number struggling to set yourself apart from the rest. Resumes aside, Contra focuses on the actual work you have done and the connections you have built through collaboration on projects. Your Contra profile allows you to showcase your talent and create a comprehensive referral network.
