[New York, 9/12/2023] – The language learning process just got quicker and more effective thanks to the new AI-powered app Lexpal. Launching in 2023, the innovative program was developed to bridge the gap between language learning and language speaking, and upend how we master new languages. “
As a four-time language learner myself, I became familiar with a lot of the struggles in how people commonly learn a new language,” said Lexpal founder Zhané Bennett. “I noticed how many people take language classes for years and know a lot on paper, but can’t really use this knowledge in conversation.”
Lexpal's unique learning process follows an iterative approach: Users initially get paired with a native speaker who becomes a learning partner. Through practicing conversations and tailored activities, both level up in their respective languages, boosting each other’s language skills.
Traditionally, language learners undergo a similar process, spending years in traditional classes, thousands on tutoring, and countless hours on apps like Duolingo, Babbel, and Rosetta Stone. The financial investment and time spent do not help overcome significant barriers, with frustrated learners still struggling to make basic conversation. Lexpal pushes conversation head-on through an affordable program to address these issues.
AI plays a key role in contouring lesson materials to each user's language level and interests, leading to enhanced language exchange. The app’s peer matching algorithm links users with language partners of similar speaking levels, availability, learning styles, interests, and goals, creating the perfect learning partnership.
“In my experience with other popular language apps, it can be really easy to lose motivation when coursework feels irrelevant to you,” said Bennett. “With conversation being the focus of the app, it’s essential for learners to practice speaking about the things that are important to them. This is a very empowering facet of language learning.”
Other app features include automatic scheduling to accommodate time zones and availability, AI-assisted meetings, peer feedback mechanisms to ensure quality interactions, and an anonymity feature for added comfort and security. LexPal encompasses a variety of practice styles to cater to diverse learning preferences and gamification is integrated to boost progress and engagement, offering certifications for users who want official proof of advancement.
At launch, Lexpal will offer major languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Hindi, and Arabic, with plans to expand to more in the future. The app is suitable for learners of all languages, demographics, and levels.
