About This Project
This project translates clinical recommendations for Type 2 Diabetes into a clear, structured educational visual β designed for use in patient counselling, clinics, and health programmes.
As a Clinical Pharmacist and Health Communication Consultant, I simplify evidence-based guidance into accessible, action-focused messaging that supports better patient understanding and adherence.
πΉ Patient Education Leaflets
Clear, structured health information written in plain English.
πΉ Clinic One-Pagers
Designed for quick, accessible communication.
πΉ Brochures & Multi-Page Materials
Crafted with evidence-based writing + strong visual hierarchy.
The Challenge
Healthcare teams often rely on complex clinical documents (NICE NG28, ADA Standards, NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme).
These guidelines are accurate β but not easy for patients to absorb during a short consultation.
Common challenges include:
Overwhelming medical terminology
Lack of prioritised βwhat matters mostβ messaging
Limited time for clinicians to explain everything
Patients forgetting key instructions after the visit
No visual hierarchy or patient-friendly flow
Project Aim
Create a concise, visually structured diabetes education resource that:
Highlights key messages in plain English
Supports clinicians during counselling
Improves patient recall and understanding
Aligns with NHS & NICE guidance
Reinforces safety-critical information

Design Approach
β Health Literacy First
The layout follows NHS readability standards:
Short sentences
High-contrast colour palette
Logical grouping of ideas
Clear headings
Reduced cognitive load
β NICE-Aligned Content
All content is grounded in NICE NG28 and Diabetes UK educational frameworks.
β Visual Hierarchy
Colour blocks, spacing, and typographic contrast guide the readerβs eye through the content in a calm, structured flow.
Impact of This Design
By converting dense guidelines into clear educational messaging, this resource helps:
Clinicians deliver clearer explanations
Patients feel more confident
Teams maintain consistency in diabetes counselling
Improve adherence to treatment
Reduce patient confusion and misinformation
This is especially valuable in busy GP practices, diabetes clinics, and community health programmes.
