My role: ERP Initiative Lead / Solution Architect & Developer

Starting problem

The company needed a dependable way to connect project information, the people involved and surrounding operational data. Information lived in emails, Excel, SharePoint and individual OneDrives; finding it depended on colleagues knowing where to look. Different people even gave conflicting counts of operating assets. I was initially assigned Power Platform, but the work called for tailored applications and a broader ERP direction.

My contribution

I led the move toward Microsoft Azure and custom ERP development. I pitched the initiative to senior stakeholders, secured approval and onboarded the team. I combined system architecture and hands-on development with developer upskilling, quickstart templates and support for internal-application releases. My responsibility covered both building useful tools and enabling the team to build them.

Key decisions

• I pushed for Azure and custom ERP development after identifying the limits of the assigned Power Platform approach.

• I delivered tailored internal applications alongside the wider ERP programme, connecting the architectural direction to finance workflows people could use.

• I paired hands-on implementation with developer upskilling and reusable starting templates so the wider team could build more effective tools.

Delivered capability and status

Internal applications for accounting automation, financial-data validation and budgetary controls were used primarily by the business-control and accounting teams in finance. The programme also enabled the team to build more effective applications through rapid upskilling. These are adopted application milestones within the ERP programme; the wider ERP remained in development at the last documented checkpoint.
