Webby Award Winner TED-Ed

An award-winning education platform that serves millions of teachers and students, TED-Ed provides a growing library of original animated videos and the ability to create your own interactive lessons. Carrying the minimalist style of the TED brand, I wanted to create a fun discovery UX experience that was driven by type. I paired the TED Helvetica light font with a youthful hipster illustration style to design the UI. I paid special attention to allow the UI to reflect the style and tone of TED-Ed’s library of original animated videos, which became the inspiration for interaction transitions and animations. The TED-Ed platform allowed for instructors to create their interactive lessons, which created a unique challenge of designing an engaging lesson template that looked great and functioned well no matter the content.
