SUMMER CAMP - LAKE BOKOD

3,000 sqm | 2020 | Concept Design & Execution Plans | University Project

MY DRIVE

creating value by exploring local assets and issues, also resonate with the local authentic atmosphere and the community

LOCATION

Lake Bokodi has a rather unique atmosphere, it is also referred to as the "Floating Village". Surrounded by self-made fishermen and vacation cabins, the lake’s architecture is a great example of an organically developed settlement. Despite its general disarray, the neighborhood has a cohesive visual identity.

CONCEPT

Only an unused building was on the site, which once belonged to the Waterworks. I renovated the existing structure into a communal space for the camp, featuring a large dining hall and a boathouse. I placed six ~100 sqm holiday cabins along the bay adjacent to the central building, each with its dock, for easy access to the water. The cabins are positioned to offer privacy while still maintaining a sense of community.

CABINS

I wanted to reflect the architectural playfulness of the surrounding area. Inside the cabins, I focused on including only the essential functions, while creating spacious docks for activities such as arts and crafts, board games, and general gathering spaces for the children.

STRUCTURE

Part of the CLT-structured buildings rest above the ground, while others "float" above the water, supported by steel frame structures anchored with massive soil screws and piles in the water. The design also includes sustainable features, such as rainwater harvesting, to reduce the environmental impact of the buildings.
