HYDROPONIC FARM

Hárosi-Duna, Budapest, Hungary 30,000 sqm | 2021 | Concept Design & Execution Plans | Diploma Project

LOCATION

The design area is located on the outskirts of Budapest, bordered by the M0 highway and the Danube River. This environment is currently undeveloped but ideal for future developments given its natural and infrastructural advantages.

ARRANGEMENT

Given its natural and infrastructural advantages. I assumed that residential developments would likely take place here in the future. The area’s most restrictive section is along the highway due to noise pollution. Thus, I selected this part for the farm would act as a sound protection to create a better environment for the residential parks matching the lines of trees and forests in the area.

TRANSITION

Between the greenhouses and the residential areas I created a transitional line to bring the technology and the people closer to each other, so I placed here the farm’s supporting facilities such as a Showroom and Educational Hub, R&D Center, Restaurant and Café, Headquarter Offices and along these a tree-lined Promenade with a Market in its end.

HYDROPONIC TECHNOLOGY

The farm uses minimal land and water by growing plants vertically in a soil-free hydroponic system, which requires up to 90% less water. Indoor, greenhouse-based farming allows for controlled environments, optimizing growth conditions and protecting plants from pests and weather extremes.
