Khatam Baju Melayu — Fashion E-Commerce (Design + Webflow)

The Problem

Traditional Malay fashion (Baju Melayu) is a culturally significant product category, but most online stores selling it look outdated or generic. The client needed a digital storefront that honored the craftsmanship and heritage while delivering a modern, conversion-optimized shopping experience.

Design Approach

The design had to walk a fine line: modern enough to feel premium, traditional enough to feel authentic. Every visual choice was intentional about cultural respect.
Key design decisions:
Rich product photography as the visual anchor — full-bleed imagery with minimal UI overlay
Color palette drawn from traditional Malay textiles: deep jewel tones, gold accents, warm neutrals
Product detail pages with fabric close-ups, sizing guides, and cultural context (occasion, styling)
Streamlined checkout optimized for mobile (majority of the target audience shops on phone)
Webflow CMS for easy product management by the client's team without developer dependency

Screens Designed and Built

Homepage with hero banner, featured collections, and seasonal highlights
Collection pages with filter/sort by occasion, fabric, and size
Product detail page with gallery, sizing, and add-to-cart
Cart and checkout flow
About page with brand story and craftsmanship narrative

What It Solved

Gave a heritage brand a digital presence that matches the quality of their physical product. The Webflow build means the client manages inventory and content independently — no developer bottleneck for updates.
