Fitness apps are crowded, and most of them overwhelm users with too many features on day one. The client needed an app that felt personal from the first screen — something that motivated without adding cognitive load.
Design Approach
The core challenge was balancing information density with visual calm. Workout data, progress charts, and scheduling all needed to coexist without competing for attention.
Key design decisions:
Dark-mode-first palette with high-contrast accent colors for active states and progress indicators
Card-based layout for workout sessions, making each day's plan scannable in under 2 seconds
Progressive disclosure: surface the essentials (today's workout, streak, progress ring) and tuck detailed stats behind intentional taps
Custom data visualization for weekly/monthly progress that feels rewarding, not clinical
Screens Designed
Onboarding and goal-setting flow
Home dashboard with daily workout card and progress ring
Exercise detail screens with rep/set tracking
Progress analytics with weekly and monthly views
Profile and settings
What It Solved
A fitness experience that feels like a personal trainer in your pocket — structured enough to guide beginners, flexible enough for experienced users. The UI reduces drop-off by making progress visible and satisfying at every session.
