During my time as a marketing intern, I had the opportunity to write press releases, create social media content, and develop a social media plan.
Social Media
The purpose of the social media was to generate publicity around ongoing arts events in the community that we served. Our action plan was to regularly check our feed for posts relating to this information. We would share these posts with our followers to increase their engagement. When we were hosting our own events, we would create posts that were informative of these.
During my internship, our Instagram follower count experienced a 25% increase. I would attribute this to my ability to increase how active the account was as well as the quality of content.
Public Relations
For one of our hosted events, I wrote a press release that was sent to the Dominion Post, a local news outlet. As a result of this, they came to our event to interview our staff and learn more about us and the event.
