Designed, implemented, tested and maintained complete back-end server architecture for this real-time, multi-user VR (and non-VR) medical simulation platform. The server was implemented using Smartfox Server via completely custom Java and MySQL db, hosted on a Linux server. Unity VR clients accessed server functionality via custom C# client APIs, as there was no built-in Unity networking solution at the time implementation began.
Features include: - custom specification, design and implementation for an innovative 3D recording system, with "in world" playback, viewable from any vantage point. - multiple clients in a "room", and multiple rooms active. - realtime voice communications. - custom avatars for users. - user profiles, with an in depth permissions system. - custom linux-based automation systems to ease new server deployments, backups, test environments.
This contract spanned just over 10 years and went through several product iterations, so there have been many more features, etc, than listed above.
