I originally created The Evolution of Science in 2017 for the March for Science movement.
The concept reworks the familiar evolution silhouette into a progression toward scientific inquiry: the original public-domain evolution imagery leads to a final scientist figure I designed.
From a single graphic to a visual series
The original design was selected for the March for Science merchandise store, where it appeared on products including shirts, mugs, and other merchandise.
I’ve revisited the piece several times since 2017, refining the design while preserving the simplicity of the original idea.
Most recently, I expanded it into a small series by pairing the artwork with short statements about how science works:
process not belief
method not myth
facts not feelings
does not discriminate
The design
The strength of the piece is its simplicity: take an instantly recognizable visual language, change one element, and let that change carry the idea.
The later versions use the same approach with typography—short statements that reinforce science as a method and process for understanding the world, rather than an identity or belief system.
My role
Concept, graphic design, custom scientist silhouette, typography, composition, and subsequent revisions and extensions of the original artwork.

Created for the 2017 March for Science and featured in its merch store, then revisited as an evolving series pairing science with direct messaging.
