Firstly, other companies had begun to copy their business model so they needed a design system that could not be imitated; one that was bold with an authentic brand story rooted in Sri Lanka. Secondly, as their main revenue came through Instagram, customers preferred to clearly see price, pax, location and photographs in each post which made communications cluttered without a system in place. The solution? To create a bold colour palette inspired by Sri Lankan village houses and a unique stamp system that evokes feelings of travel nostalgia. Inspired by passport and collector stamps of far-flung places, the stamps could be added to social media communications to clearly show essential villa information, but in a way that complimented the brand design rather than confused it. The illustrated stamp designs were also used to section and organise all villas into 4 clear categories that travellers often seek based on their desired island experience; Safari, Culture, Hillside and Tropics.
