Vantage Investment Tracking App Design

The Problem

Investment data gets hard to follow once it’s spread across different asset types and platforms. People need more than a current balance. They want to see how the portfolio is performing, where the money sits, and which investments are actually driving returns.
I set out to design Vantage, a mobile app that brings stocks, funds, crypto, real estate and gold into one clear view, without making the experience feel overwhelming.
Specific Requirements
The app needed to support four core tasks:
Track: see the current value of the whole portfolio
Understand: see growth, returns and how money is allocated
Explore: find and inspect individual investments
Manage: add investments and control account preferences
The hard part was balancing financial detail with visual simplicity.
What I Delivered
I structured the app around four levels:
Overview: the Home screen shows the first things people want, which are portfolio value, invested amount and overall performance. Allocation, performance highlights and recent activity come in gradually below that.
Explore: investments get their own space, where people can search, filter and sort holdings without cluttering the dashboard.
Understand: performance has a dedicated screen for deeper analysis. Growth and Allocation are separate views, because each one answers a different question.
Manage: adding an investment and changing privacy or notification settings live in focused flows, so they don’t compete with portfolio data.
The dashboard follows one rule: show the important information first. It goes from portfolio value to performance to allocation to activity, so people move naturally from “Where do I stand?” to “Why?”
To keep the numbers readable, I used cards, charts, segmented controls and compact data rows to separate different types of information. Time range controls let people change the period they’re viewing without leaving the screen.
The Add Investment flow asks only for what’s needed: name, category, units, purchase price, purchase date and an optional current price. As people type, the app previews the invested amount, current value and gain or loss. The form tells them what their input means before they save it.
Since investment data is personal, people can hide their balances and turn on biometric access from the same place as their notification settings.
Key Deliverables
Home dashboard with portfolio value, performance, allocation and activity
Investments screen with search, filters and sorting
Performance screen with separate Growth and Allocation views and time range controls
Individual investment detail screens
Add Investment flow with a live gain or loss preview
Privacy and notification settings, including hidden balances and biometric access
Onboarding screens
A consistent component system across every screen
High fidelity UI in Figma with a clickable prototype
Overall Experience
Finance apps can turn into walls of numbers very quickly, and that was the main thing to avoid. Most of the work went into deciding what people need to see first and what can wait one tap away. The live preview in the Add Investment flow is my favorite part. It’s a small detail, and it turns a plain form into something useful. Vantage connects the full journey, from first use to tracking, exploring, analyzing and managing, in one consistent system.

Have a SaaS product or app idea? Let’s design it right. I design SaaS dashboards, web apps and mobile products that users understand from the first click and developers can build without guessing.
Why work with me? 🔍 User Research First: Every design decision is based on how your users actually work. 🧩 Dev Ready Figma Files: Organized components, clear specs and zero guesswork at handoff. 📱 Web and Mobile: SaaS dashboards, web apps and native iOS and Android apps. 🗣️ Clear Communication: Regular updates, honest feedback and quick replies. ✅ On Time Delivery: Clear milestones and no surprises.
Tell me what you’re building and I’ll tell you how I’d approach it.
