Uncovered Long-Standing Data Issues

Resolved 6.5 year data issue for client that was thought to have been on the reporting side. I used my knowledge of data investigations, including data lineage, and methods I have developed myself in order to backwards engineer the data anomalies that were seen on the reporting side. While the data was “accurate” as compared to the data warehouse and its source, a mirrored mainframe, I was able to uncover that there was one flag missing. Once that was brought in, the data was corrected at 99.5% accuracy with the anticipated 0.5% discrepancy also defined by automated exception reports. In addition, I was able to reduce the main nightly ETL job down to 0.01115% of the original time* (*what took 7.5 hours to run was reduced to 3.11 seconds). I became known as “The Closer” for this success.
