Maison Galli Website Redesign

A 130-year-old maison, online

Maison Galli designs interiors and then makes them. The joinery, the upholstery, the furniture — it all comes out of their own workshop in Meyrin, and the finished pieces sit in a showroom on Place du Bourg-de-Four in Geneva. The family has been doing this since 1890. Joanna Choukroun-Lévy is the third generation to run it, and she was taking the business on fully.
The website they had didn't carry any of that. For a company whose whole argument is craft, that matters — someone weighing up a bespoke dressing room or a full renovation looks you up first, and what they find should feel like walking into the showroom.
Botte Secrète, a Swiss agency I've worked with for years, brought me in. They ran the project, the client relationship, the structure of the site and the copy. I did the web design and the Webflow build.

Getting out of the photography's way

Galli sent over their image library, and it was large. On a site like this the photography is the product, so most of the design work was choosing: which room, which crop, which handful of images say atelier rather than furniture shop. The layout is deliberately quiet — a lot of white space, one accent colour, restrained type — because anything louder would compete with the interiors.
The site moves more than it appears to. Gallery sections and scenes play as you scroll, but those videos are served from a CDN rather than through Webflow, so the page still opens quickly on a phone.
The hardest page was À propos. It tells the family story as a timeline — the founder Jean Galli, the move to Place Longemalle, the Lévy family taking the business on — with the year counting up in the middle as you scroll through it. Getting that count to land on the right decade at the right moment took more trial and error than anything else on the site. It's the kind of thing nobody notices when it's right. You just come away with the sense that this place is old, which is the whole point of the page.

Where it landed

Galli has a front door that looks like their work. Their team can add a new realisation or change what's on show in the showroom themselves, rather than calling someone every time.
No launch numbers came back to me on this one — Botte Secrète held the client relationship. What I can point to is that they've kept bringing me projects since.

Web design and Webflow build for Maison Galli, a Geneva interior architecture atelier founded in 1890 — quiet layouts, big photography, a 130-year timeline.
