Immigrants Voting Rights

Liz Kari

Many immigrants have come to this country for freedom, but they are not truly free. They have no legal right to vote on matters that directly impact their lives and their children’s future. The United States has always banned people from voting because many strict rules dictate voting rights. When the declaration was first signed in 1776 the only people that had the right to vote were land-owning white males. Minority groups such as women and black people had to fight, protest, and win their right to vote.
