Walking on Thin Ice Title Sequence Design

David Silva

The title sequence for Walking on Thin Ice establishes an eerie and unsettling atmosphere, leveraging muted tones, soft focus, and abstract visuals to evoke psychological tension. The interplay of blurred textures, fractured elements, and minimal typography enhances the ambiguity, reflecting the fractured psyche of the narrative. Subtle lighting contrasts and shadows amplify a sense of isolation and foreboding, aligning perfectly with the thriller's psychological depth.
It was created using 3D modeling in Cinema 4D, with materials and lighting set up in Redshift to achieve precise control over reflections, shadows, and soft highlights. The rendering process used Redshift’s GPU capabilities for efficiency and realism. Post-production involved detailed VFX and compositing, layering cracks, distortions, and atmospheric effects to seamlessly integrate the 3D elements. This workflow ensured a cohesive result that combined modeling, rendering, and final touches effectively.
These moodboards helped define the visual tone of Walking on Thin Ice, exploring fear, identity, and fragility through abstract textures, distorted forms, and bold typography.
They marked the first step in the process, developed hand in hand with the film’s director to shape the title sequence’s emotional direction.
