The Client

Better Coaching is a Danish sports startup that offers a digital platform for football clubs to manage a complete training plan with individual programs, goals tracking, and communication center for sharing information between coaches and players. It helps the club coaches to plan, streamline and optimize the quality of the daily football training.

The Сhallenge

Club coaches need to give visual training instructions to the users of the online platform. Shooting and editing videos require skills that football coaches lack, so the client requested to develop a tool that allows them publish training instruction in a clear and comprehensible way.



The Solution

We developed Drill Generator — a 2D graphic editor as a standalone HTML5/Canvas web application running in a web browser that allows creating graphic schemes or diagrams of training sessions in the form of a visual editor.

Coach can add graphic objects, like lines, shapes, arrows, and text labels, as well as use a preset library of football-specific assets. All objects placed on canvas can be adjusted the same way you do it in a common graphic editor.



Further Improvements

Next release of Drill Generator v2.0 included lots of new features, with animated drills being one of them. A coach is able to make a frame-by-frame animation by moving the desired objects on the field, similar to common timeline animation editors. Created animations can be saved into the drills library, and embedded to the training instructions for players.

Cross-browser and cross-platform solution

One of the requirements for application development was to make it non-dependent on a specific web browser the user may have. We delivered a cross-browser web application which is fully operational in all modern web browsers on Windows and Mac platforms.
