Context & Challenge

Zíro is a fintech offering BNPL and credit to distributors in the traditional channel. Clients use Zíro's credit lines to pay providers and finance inventory.
Before this project, confirming (Zíro paying providers' invoices) was managed through email threads and Excel files. Balances were scattered, and neither Zíro nor distributors had a reliable, up-to-date view of their position.
Main pain points:
No single source of truth for invoices, confirming debt, and available credit
Ops and finance teams spent hours reconciling multiple spreadsheets and email chains
Distributors had to ask Zíro for updates instead of checking invoice status and balance themselves
The goal: turn confirming into a productised, self-service experience that unified BNPL and confirming balances and reduced manual work.

My Role

Product & Design Lead — responsible for defining the product vision, scope, and delivery for the confirming module. I mapped the end-to-end journey from invoice submission to reconciliation and payment. Designed the main interfaces: invoice list ("Facturas") and reconciliation dashboard ("Conciliaciones"). Defined business rules and states together with engineering, ops, and finance.
I owned the confirming dashboards end-to-end, from problem framing to launchable product.

Process

1. Understanding Zíro's Confirming Context
Reviewed existing spreadsheets, contracts, and email flows used to manage confirming. Walked through current processes with ops and finance to connect BNPL, confirming, and repayments. Mapped key entities and terms: invoice, confirming debt, interests, cupo, and repayment rules.
Key learning: Distributors mainly care about "how much cupo do I have left to buy?" — not detailed financial breakdowns. Internal teams used financial terms inconsistently, which created noise in communication.
2. Mapping the Friction
Different spreadsheet versions produced different balances for the same client
Interests and available cupo were calculated manually invoice by invoice
Approvals and state changes lived in email, with no clear status or audit trail
3. Designing the New Journeys
Created a dedicated Confirming area with sub-navigation for Dashboard, Invoices, and Reconciliations. Designed an invoice list with filters and color-coded statuses (Pending, Accepted, Paid, Rejected). Built a reconciliation dashboard with summary cards for confirming debt, interests, total cupo, and available cupo.

Key Design Decisions

Single confirming overview replacing scattered spreadsheets to give all parties the same baseline
Clear statuses and visual tags replacing ambiguous email updates and making invoice state obvious
Calculated summary cards replacing manual interest and balance summaries so teams could focus on exceptions
Reused BNPL patterns from existing screens to reduce learning curve for current clients

Outcomes

Zíro and its clients now share one source of truth for confirming debt, interests, and available cupo
Distributors can self-serve to see invoices, status, and balances instead of relying on email updates
Ops and finance spend less time reconciling spreadsheets and more time handling real edge cases and decisions
