TRANSgress: A Social Impact Initiative

This Social Impact project proposal had me look at a social issue/community need that I saw was lacking and develop an event or a cemented program to address these. I came up with the idea of "TRANSgress" to respond to the uptick in LGBTQ-centered hate crimes and laws villainizing and oppressing specifically the transgender community. This event would be a resource fair to bring together communities of transgender individuals around college campuses, get these communities the resources they need, and offer a wider array of education about the community and personal identities. The word "TRANSgress" comes from the idea that even if it shouldn't be the case, LGBTQ identities have become politicized, and to be out, to transition, and just to live your life has now become an act of transgression and revolution.
