UltraFlix: Zero-Downtime Organization Migration on Google Cloud

Usama Idrees

UltraFlix, a leading streaming service, required a seamless migration of its Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure to a new organization under a strict timeline. The project involved transferring critical resources such as Compute Engine instances, Cloud Storage, databases, and networking configurations. Despite significant challenges, including billing conflicts and complex service dependencies, the migration was completed with 0% downtime, ensuring uninterrupted global streaming service.
The project followed a phased approach, leveraging GCP tools like Transfer Service and Terraform for automation. Key tasks included resolving quota issues with GCP support, rebuilding security policies, and optimizing resource configurations for cost efficiency. Testing and validation ensured all services functioned flawlessly post-migration.
Delivered within 5 weeks, the project exceeded expectations by maintaining operational continuity, resolving billing challenges, and optimizing costs. UltraFlix’s leadership praised the flawless execution and the ability to deliver under tight constraints, reinforcing trust in our expertise for high-stakes cloud migrations.
