Noche Estrellada is an antique and coffee shop meant to be a safe and communal space for people from all walks of life. There is no tolerance for discrimination at Noche Estrellada. My design work for this unique shop was inspired by the inclusivity and diversity that runs deep in Noche Estrellada's roots. I wanted the personality of the brand to speak confidently and loudly. A diverse color system with organic shapes and fun imagery all come together to become Noche Estrellada.

The client gave me the name "Noche Estrellada" and a few pointers and I built a brand around that. The first question I had to answer was, "What does 'Noche Estrellada' even mean?"

"Noche Estrellada" translates to "Starry Night" in English and, of course, we think of the famous painting by Vincent Van Gogh. What else did I know about the brand? The brand is:

welcoming and accommodating to everyone.

inclusive, which means using neutral elements and language to support their diversity.

free-flowing and avant-garde, while still retaining a trendy and timeless appearance.

attentive to the quality of the items it sells.

a communal experience that allows people from all walks of life to engage and reside in the business.

The Perfection of an Imperfect Brush Stroke As explored in the discovery phase, Van Gogh's Starry Night represents the uniqueness and beauty of this brand. Starry Night is an impressionist piece and the principle of the impressionist brush stroke is found throughout the design process; the brush stroke is short, quick, and imperfect, but when paired with other brush strokes like it, it creates a beautiful picture.

Personifying the Brand This brand is your new best friend, the big sibling you never had, your biggest cheerleader. Noche Estrellada has a unique personality, personified through fun character designs, messaging, and abstract patterns.
