📸 Digitising a found photography collection

Photography itself excludes and selects which moments we get to remember. The moment something is given a frame, it is no longer a picture of the whole. Combined with the inevitable loss of memory over time, we can never truly replicate a moment through the image.

View From This Side is a collection of found photography made digital. The project explores themes of nostalgia and lost memory, questioning the very nature of photography as a recording device. The 300-image collection was found at the Waverley Antique Bazaar east of Melbourne and scanned in it’s entirety. The images on the website are curated to best represent the variety of the collection.

This site was built from scratch using skills learned in SuperHi’s Javascript for Designers course and was featured in their newsletter.
