View From This Side

Photography itself excludes and selects which moments we get to remember. The moment something is given a frame, it is no longer a picture of the whole. Combined with the inevitable loss of memory over time, we can never truly replicate a moment through the image.
View From This Side is a collection of found photography made digital. The project explores themes of nostalgia and lost memory, questioning the very nature of photography as a recording device. The 300-image collection was found at the Waverley Antique Bazaar east of Melbourne and scanned in itโ€™s entirety. The images on the website are curated to best represent the variety of the collection.
This site was built from scratch using skills learned in SuperHiโ€™s Javascript for Designers course and was featured in their newsletter.
