Building Trust Between Construction Equipment Owners & Renters
About MachHire
MachHire is an online marketplace that bridges the gap between equipment owners and renters who need reliable tools for short-term or long-term projects from generators to heavy construction machinery.
The goal
To create a transparent, easy-to-use platform that empowers owners to earn from their assets while helping renters access equipment without hassle.
The Challenge
Before MachHire, renting equipment was chaotic long calls, unclear availability, and trust issues.
Owners needed a way to list, track, and manage their tools, while renters needed clarity, security, and smooth booking.
My challenge as the Product Designer was to design two intuitive dashboards:
Owner Dashboard โ to manage listings, monitor rentals, and track earnings.
Renter Dashboard โ to find, book, and review equipment effortlessly.
Clear onboarding that instantly personalizes the MachHire experience users choose to earn as an Equipment Owner or rent as a Hirer in just one click.
My Process
I started with user research to understand the friction on both sides:
Owners struggled with poor visibility into active rentals and delayed payments.
Renters complained about unclear equipment condition and lack of reviews.
Using these insights, I mapped out information Architecture that prioritized clarity, trust, and control.

The Owner Dashboard gives every equipment owner a complete business overview at a glance.
Key Highlights:
Analytics Snapshot: View total rentals, earnings, and top-performing equipment.
Rental Management: See pending requests, approve bookings, or mark equipment unavailable.
Earnings & Payouts: Track current and lifetime earnings, and withdraw directly to wallet.
Equipment Insights: Dive into performance analytics for each listing โ frequency, average rental duration, and renter feedback.
Each element was designed to be clickable and actionable, so owners can seamlessly manage their business without friction.

Renters get a personalized experience that inspires confidence.
Key Highlights:
Smart Search & Filters: Browse by category, location, price, or availability.

Secure Checkout: Renters can confirm bookings with upfront payment protection.
Review System: After each rental, users leave ratings โ building trust across the platform.
The goal was to make every renter feel safe, informed, and in control of their choices.
