Bookshelf for Izzi Digital

The core of Izzi Digital. A digital library that had to stay simple for teachers while managing real complexity underneath.

Bookshelf is a simple library for a child, a deep management tool for a teacher, and the hub that connects every feature in the suite. Each wants a different interface. The work was making all three coexist on the same product without any one of them ruining the others.

The shelf at the center of it all. A vertically scrolling library that's the landing point and the direct route into the learning content. Simple by design, because it's the first thing a teacher or child sees. The complexity isn't gone, it's kept out of sight.

Teacher's Corner, the piece I spent the most time on, designed from scratch. Teachers organize materials by subject, nested into units and folders, linked to the right publication, each with publish, lock, and permission states. Teachers and students see a clean reading view. Superadmins see a full management surface. Same screens, two very different jobs.

The machinery that fills it. Multi-step flows for adding units and materials handle thumbnails, relations, keywords, grade and subject, and nesting, with folders creatable inline so an admin never breaks flow. Destructive actions spell out their full blast radius before confirming, down to the exact count of folders and materials a delete will take with it.

Bookshelf launches dozens of interactive games through a dedicated player. I polished the game slider that streams challenges, controls, and progress in one consistent frame, the same player that runs across both Bookshelf and Playground. I designed a number of the games themselves too.

Beyond the browser, Bookshelf ships as dedicated mobile and desktop apps. Same library, same materials, adapted to each platform so it holds up whether a teacher's on a laptop in class or a student's on a phone at home.

Bookshelf shipped as the working hub of Izzi Digital across web, mobile, and desktop. A simple shelf on the surface, with Teacher's Corner, full management flows, a game player, and native apps underneath. The child's reading view stayed simple while teachers got real depth, all folded into the shared design system.
